Hair Oil Massage

Having the right kind of oil for your hair is very important and so is oiling your hair. Many of us have a hectic schedule due to which, oiling and washing our hair holds the last priority. If you want healthy hair and one which lasts longer - oiling is the best remedy.

There are so many oils in the market which tells you tales about the benefits it provides. Before jumping in the bandwagon with others, check it from which company you are buying the oil. A trusted and known company is very important as there are many duplicates in the market.

We, too, can use such ingredients. Curd, lemon, gooseberry (amla), vinegar, milk, honey, etc., add life to your skin and hair. Occasionally, pamper yourself with these small luxuries and see the difference. Since time immemorial, women have spent time and energy to preserve their tresses. Nowadays, the market is flooded with all sorts of herbal and Ayurvedic preparations for a flawless skin and long, lustrous hair, each one claiming to be the best.

After you have ruled out any significant medical condition, you can turn to various aromatherapy Herbal treatments to not only nourish, but also stimulate, the hair follicles and help promote healthy hair growth. One way is to make an aromatherapy infusion that you apply directly to your hair, another is to create a hair and scalp massage oil. An additional hair treatment is made by adding herbal essential oil to your shampoo or conditioner. This is a very simple way to create a wonderful product that works wonders on your hair.

Most people will say that the average rate of hair regrowth is between one half to one inch per month, this is false as it is nothing but an average. An average is not a true number and it is incorrect for most people as the majority of people ARE going through stunted new hair growth cycles. There are actually simple ways in which you can significantly improve rate at which you'll be able to grow a healthy mane. Listed below are the proven ways to make hair grow faster

Another cause for dandruff and dry scalp is cold weather. The scalp surface becomes dry in cold weather. It then easily flakes off and sheds its dead skin cells that in turn, result in dandruff.

Allergic reaction to some food and nutritional deficiency in the diet can be major reasons for dandruff. Deficiency of omega 3 acids and B-complex vitamins can cause the dead skin cells of the scalp to flake off excessively.

Excessive use of shampoo:
In all shampoos heavy chemicals are present which are not good for your hair. This is the reason why hair experts advice that you must not use shampoo daily. Daily use of shampoo leads to hair loss. Use light shampoo or before using shampoo mix it in water then apply it on your hair. Do not use hot water.

Excessive stress:
Stress is one of the main causes of this problem especially in teenagers. Before exams, spending sleepless night, unnecessary anger and tension and working in computer continuously may cause stress. You can avoid this by going for morning walk and listening music.

Foods For Healthier Hair

Foods For Healthier Hair

Many are seeking ways to prevent hair loss. The truth is, our hair changes as we age. As we get older we lose more hair and we tend to begin noticing it more and more. It's normal to lose at least 100 hairs each and every day. Over the course of a year, this can really add up.

Protecting your hair through a healthy diet is a great start to help prevent hair loss. Maybe there is some truth to the old adage "you are what you eat". Eat more of these foods to help keep your healthy head of hair.

Walnuts
A healthy diet with some walnuts in it will help improve your locks. Walnuts contain an oil that helps hair growth. But beware, if you eat too many you're hair will have too much of a healthy thing and look dull and oily.

Popeye Had It Right
Eat your spinach. A diet deficient in iron is another cause for hair loss. Rich in minerals and vitamins, spinach will help to keep your hair follicles healthy and strong.

Eat For The Halibut
Halibut is rich in magnesium which can help prevent hair loss. Many other kinds of fish also have an abundance of magnesium so eat up.

Carrots
Not only healthy for your eyesight, this tuber vegetable is rich in Vitamin A which can strengthen your hair. Have you ever wondered how models get those gorgeous locks of hair? They eat a diet laden in healthy foods that will benefit their entire bodies including their hair.

Bok Choy
When a dermatologist looks at hair loss, they also check your ferritin levels. Ferritin levels will detect good levels of iron and healthy hair. Rich in iron, bok choy is an ideal vegetable for healthy hair. So go ahead and make that favorite salad of yours. Try using some bok choy along with the spinach for a unique flavor treat and for a healthier head.
Greek Yogurt

For all you yogurt fans out there, Greek yogurt packs a powerful dose of Vitamin B5 and Vitamin D. Both of these vitamins are important for healthy hair and follicles. Try topping your green yogurt with some walnuts or granola for a healthy start to the day.

Eggs
Eggs are another great source for Vitamin D. No matter how you like your eggs, if you try to eat one per day you'll have healthier hair. Try a morning omelet with some spinach, bok choy and perhaps a few walnuts across the top. Combining these healthy foods will benefit your overall well being.

Making healthy dietary choices as we age can not only prevent diseases and medical conditions, it can also strengthen our hair and our bodies. These choices are simple to make. While we are out shopping for food we can simply choose to buy more of the healthier alternatives in lieu of the junk food that's so readily available. Our food choices can benefit us for many years to come

Can Hair Loss Be Caused By Medications We Take?

Can Hair Loss Be Caused By Medications We Take? Can Hair Loss Be Caused By Medications We Take?

Medications have become a necessary evil.  We need them to treat various ailments that we develop over the course of our lives.  The problem is that all medications do carry the risk of causing side effects.  Most of the time those side effects are something that we either do not notice or that we can live with.  There are a large number of medications that affect our hair in various ways:  including excessive hair growth, discoloration of our hair, and hair loss.

Medication-induced hair loss has the same impact on self esteem as any other type of hair loss.  Most people never suspect that the medications that they are taking could be contributing to the loss of their hair.  The good news though is that once this is figured out, the hair loss can be reversed simply by finding an alternative medicine that does not affect you the same way. This is true in most cases.

Our hair goes through three “life” cycles.  The first of these is the anagen phase.   During this time the hair grows.  This phase lasts about three to four years, after which the telogen phase begins.  This much shorter phase, lasting only about three months, is the resting period for the hair.  After the telogen phase has completed itself, the hair simply falls out.  Certain medications interfere with the life cycles of our hair.  There are two types of hair loss that medications can cause.  The are the telegen effluvium and the anagen effluvium.

Telegen effluvium is by far the most common medication-induced hair loss type.  Signs will normally start to be noticed within two to three months of the start of a new medication.  Hair follicles are forced to start their resting phase too soon and fall out much earlier than they are supposed to.  It is estimated that people with telegen effluvium shed around 150 hairs each day.

Anagen effluvium usually presents much sooner and impacts hair growth in a much more dramatic way.  Hair loss usually starts to be noticeable after as few as two days up to two weeks after the start of the new medication.  Matrix cells in hair follicles in the anagen growing phase will be prevented from dividing properly.  These cells are responsible for new hair growth.  Many people will lose all their hair, not just on the tops of their heads but all across their bodies.  Cancer treatment medications are common causes for this type of hair loss.

If you suspect that you may be experiencing hair loss due to medications that you are taking, you should see your doctor.  It is possible to have alternative medicines prescribed that will not have the same effect.  In most cases your hair will grow back on its own after you stop taking the medication.  In those cases where it does not, there are products such as Rogaine and Propecia that possibly could help to stimulate new hair growth.  There are also many natural remedies such as saw palmetto and onion juice (yes it’s true!) that have also been shown to promote new hair growth.

Customer opinion in amla oil

Brahmi Amla Oil:First of all, I must tell you that this oil is not natural. However, after reading many reviews online I decided to buy it because a) cheap and b) do not lose anything with experiment. For me, it is still a game while I wait for my hair to continue to grow and I find it very funny.Among its properties specifies that strengthens hair and helps the fall. It is assumed that this would also help to maintain hair growth and dark shades if used regularly. The Brahmi herb is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine and is antiallergic and stimulating. What I dislike of this oil is the aroma, and smelling of incense and is a bit strong for my taste but I think I'm getting used. It's not that terrible. I use it once a week by applying it first to my scalp and circular movements. Then apply it on the ends, braid my hair and I waited until the next day.
As I've told in previous post, I find it much more practical and beneficial oils apply myself at night. The next day I wash it with the AC-SH-AC method, trying to use any of my shampoos good "sulfatosos" to not feel heavy scalp, you never know.I have not gone dandruff, I have not irritated scalp, has not been flushed, her hair falls under me, is brilliant, with almost no volume and frizz. I do not know if I got used to the scent, but when my hair is dry and no smell of incense.I recommend it for those who want to experience just because. In addition, 200 ml bottle come for the modest sum of $ 3,000, what better? Very nice I think.Amla powderAmla is a fruit which is also known as the "Indian berry". It is rich in vitamin C and delivering benefits to the hair shine, smoothness, strength and promoting growth. It also serves as an excellent face mask.Comes in the box you see in the photo and how to use it is a bit cumbersome, but worth it.You must mix the contents with a little warm water to create a paste. What you get is a grayish cream to be applied throughout the hair and let it dry at least 45 minutes (as shown in the box).

Customer opinion in amla oil
It's almost the same as applying henna, only the Amla moisturizes the hair and will only deliver something dark when dealing followed. I use it once a month and have not noticed big differences in color.Once the time has elapsed, you should rinse your hair very well, until the water runs clear. It is optional to apply shampoo, amla as clean so well that the truth is not necessary. What I do recommend for long hair like mine is to use a little conditioner to balance everything and let the tips in optimal conditional, but that step is also optional. You can prepare all the mix, but if you can spare a little freezing without problems. The result is everything I expected and I get 99% of the time: shine, silkiness and little frizz. I LOVE IT!You can also use mixed with shikakai, brahmi, neem henna and even lowering the intensity of red. I have not used it in the latter way, but I hope that works for them if they try.

Medicinal Uses of Amla

what are the uses of amla

Liver Health

Caldecott notes amla's longstanding use as a liver-supporting botanical medicine. Traditionally, it has been used as a treatment for jaundice and hepatitis. In April 2004, the medical journal "Nutrition Research" published the results of an animal study that confirmed that amla can protect rats from the effects of dimethyl hydrazine, a potent liver toxin.

Antioxidant

Amla fruit is a potent source of vitamin C and other naturally occurring antioxidants. Antioxidant compounds can help to protect DNA from the damage associated with free radicals-- highly reactive compounds linked to cancer, organ damage and death. "Nutrition Research" found that rats taking amla experience less oxidative damage than expected when they are exposed to toxins.

Hair Health

Ayurvedic practitioners associate amla with hair health. For this reason, it is frequently used as a component in over-the-counter herbal formulas for hair health. No studies have evaluated the efficacy of amla as a treatment for hair loss, premature graying or poor hair growth.

Immune Health

Traditional Ayurvedic medicine regards amla as a useful intervention for colds, fevers and influenza. Few studies have investigated amla's efficacy as a treatment for infections, but Todd Caldecott reports that it can boost immunity in animals with cancer and demonstrates antiviral effects in laboratory environments.

Digestive Health

According to Todd Caldecott, a clinical herbalist who specializes in Ayurvedic medicine, amla is an effective treatment for indigestion, gas, constipation, hemorrhoids and poor appetite.

Blood Health

Caldecott notes amla's traditional Ayurvedic use as a treatment for bleeding disorders and anemia. Amla may also help to mitigate the effects of menorrhagia, a condition marked by heavy, prolonged menstrual periods.

Is Amla Good For Hair?

What is Amla powder and what does it do for hair?
The Right Brain replies:
Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is a fruit from the myrobalan-tree which is native to India and Burma. Like its cousin the North American gooseberry, amla fruit is edible with tart citrusy flavor. Amla is allegedly high in ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and tannins which give it high antioxidant strength. Amla also contains flavonoids, kaempferol, ellagic acid and gallic acid.
Preliminary medical research has shown Amla potentially provides a surprising variety of benefits including antiviral and antimicrobial properties; prevention of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, activity against some cancers; reduced severity of acute pancreatitis, age-related renal disease, and diabetes; and reduction of blood cholesterol levels. Not bad, eh?
Is Amla good for hair?
It’s popularly believed that amla fruit is good for hair when applied as a conditioner. A quick search reveals claims about nourishing hair and scalp, adding texture and volume to hair, and preventing premature grey hair. Does amla really deliver against any of these claims?

“Nourishing” claims are fairly ambiguous and are therefore easy to support. Any material that provides a conditioning effect can be said to be nourishing, so it’s likely that amla does have some benefit in this regard. Texturizing may be one area where amla really delivers, provided it’s left in your hair. There are a number of anecdotal stories of these benefits.
The grey hair claims may come from the fact that amla is used in inks and fabric dyes to help “fix” the dye in place. Unfortunately, hair dyes work by a different chemistry than fabric dyes and we can find no reference to in the cosmetic science literature to indicate that amla has any effect on hair color what so ever.
Interesting bonus fact: In Punjabi, amla is called olay, as in “Oil of Olay” beauty products from Proctor and Gamble. Is this coincidence, or sinister design?
What about Amla Oil?
While Celeste didn’t specifically ask about it, amla fruit is also available in oil form. We would be very cautious about purchasing this version because in several of the products we reviewed the so called “amla oil” was really just amla extract diluted down in mineral and canola oil. You’re better off with the concentrated powder.
The Beauty Brains bottom line
While some of the claims are outlandish, you may perceive some basic conditioning and texturizing benefits from applying amla powder to your hair. We’d expect this to be true of leave in applications and wouldn’t expect to see any difference when it’s rinsed out.
Ladies, have you tried amla in your regimen? How does it work for your hair?

How to Use Amla (Indian Gooseberry ) For Thick, Shiny, Healthy Hair

Amla (Indian gooseberry) is the common name for an herb used in the traditional Indian health-care system know as Ayurveda. Traditional South Asian cultures use amla as a hair tonic and as an additive to hair oils and hair-care preparations. You also can take amla fruit and amla extract as a dietary supplement for general skin and hair health. Scientific studies show that amla has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help maintain healthy hair. Other studies conclude that topically applied amla has exfoliating and anti-bacterial properties and may help maintain a healthy scalp and promote hair growth.

1
Mix about 1/2 cup of pure amla (Indian gooseberry) powder with enough warm water to make a paste. The paste should be about as thick as a cup of stirred yogurt. Let the mixture stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • 2
Apply the paste to dry, clean hair using your hands (rubber gloves are recommended but not absolutely necessary; amla does not stain), starting close to your scalp and working toward the ends of your hair. Be gentle and do not rub the mixture into your scalp.
  • 3
Let the paste sit on your head, uncovered, for three to five minutes. The amla mixture should be thick enough that it doesn't drip. Rinse the paste out with lukewarm water. Do not apply your regular conditioner or shampoo for a few hours.
  • 4
Treat your hair with the amla powder mixture about once every two weeks. Between treatments, try using a shampoo and conditioner containing amla. You also can use amla oil on your hair between treatments for extra shine and softness.
